MR PASCOE PLEASENCE

Pascoe Pleasence has been Head of the Legal Services Research Centre (formerly the Legal Aid Board Research Unit) since its inception in 1996. Previously he was a researcher at Queen Mary and Westfield College (QMW), University of London, (1994-5) and a lecturer/tutor for the University of London (external programme), QMW, and the University of Sussex (1994-6). His teaching interests include constitutional, administrative and criminal law. His research interests span the civil and criminal justice systems and extend to jurisprudence and political theory. He became a barrister, following his M.Phil. in Criminology at Cambridge University (1989) and BA (Hons.) in Philosophy at University College London (1987). Key publications include Personal Injury Litigation in Practice (Legal Aid Board, 1998), Defining the Public Interest (Legal Aid Board, 1999, "Firm Handling: The Defence Strategies Of Personal Injury Lawyers" (in Legal Studies, 2000 (with R. Dingwall, T. Durkin, W. Felstiner and R. Bowles)), and Local Legal Need (with A. Buck, T. Goriely, J. Taylor and H. Perkins).
