MS JENNY HARDY Following her admission as a solicitor in 1989 in the Northern Territory (NT) of Australia, Jenny Hardy worked as the Assistant to the Solicitor-General for the NT and then, in 1990, as a Crown Prosecutor in the NT Office of the DPP. In 1991, she was employed by the Attorney-General's Department to prepare a major discussion paper on laws relating to sexual assault which led to major reforms of the criminal law and laws of evidence in the NT. In 1992, she worked with the North Australian Aboriginal Legal Aid Service as a criminal lawyer. Jenny was employed as the State Advocate to the Attorney-General in the Republic of Kiribati in 1993 and 1994. She was awarded the Young Australian Lawyer of the Year award by the Law Council of Australia in 1993. During 1995 and 1996, she returned to the North Australian Aboriginal Legal Aid Service as a policy lawyer before becoming the A/Director of the National Aboriginal Youth Law Centre in 1997. Commenced her current position as the Executive Officer of National Legal Aid in 1997. |
