Aneurin (Nye) Thomas

Aneurin (Nye) Thomas has been Policy Director at Legal Aid Ontario since March 1999. In this position, he is responsible for legal aid policy development, needs assessment, business planning, program development, and government relations. Prior to this appointment, he held positions as Manager, Policy and Planning within the provincial Ministry of the Attorney General; counsel to the Ontario Legal Aid Review; and Senior Researcher, Centre for Public Law and Public Policy, Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Toronto, Canada.

As of March 2003, he is on a one-year secondment as Project Director for Legal Aid Ontario's Client Access and Service Program. In this capacity, he will be responsible for developing LAO's criminal staff offices, regional service networks, and specialized legal aid services to meet unique client needs.

He received an LL.M. from New York University in 1991; an LL.B. from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario in 1989; and a B.A. from the University of Toronto in 1985.
