Nick Huls (1949) is professor of socio-legal studies at Erasmus University Rotterdam and Leyden University. He worked at the legal aid bureaus in Eindhoven and Amsterdam from 1977 till 1981. For years he has been a contributing editor to Rechtshulp, the monthly periodical of the legal aid movement. As an academic he has been a critical friend of the legal movement from the beginning. He is a member of one of the 5 supervisory boards, De Raad voor Rechtsbijstand den Haag. In 2002 he has been involved in setting up legal aid studies in South Africa and Mali. Apart from legal aid topics Nick Huls writes about consumer bankruptcy and credit, the role of civil servants in legislation, development in the ethics of legal professions and the problems of the risk society. |
