George graduated from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law in 1969. He was called to the Bar in 1972 and practised in Toronto in criminal, family and civil law. After twelve years in private practice he joined Legal Aid as Deputy Legal Accounts Officer.

He became Deputy Director, Legal Aid in 1989 and went on to become Vice President, Legal Services for Legal Aid Ontario, responsible for the delivery of legal services by certificate lawyers and for the duty counsel program.

George is currently Vice President, Policy, Planning and External Relations for Legal Aid Ontario. He is responsible for LAO relations with the Federal government, the development of pilot projects, business analysis and policy initiatives. He designed and managed the six pilot projects in family law and expanded duty counsel under discussion.
